The TX-SR608 offers two new technologies, Audyssey Dolby surround sound and offer new and exciting ways to configure the speakers in your home theater system. Audyssey DSX allows you to incorporate "broad front" speakers instead of the usual surround back speakers to expand the width of the soundstage. Parking at a recommended 60 degrees out, these channels help to produce more realistic sound and a surround sound experience.
Universal Port for a single optional cable Onkyo dock for iPhone ™ / iPod ® or HD Radio ™ tuner
A Universal Port property located at the rear of the Onkyo TX-SR608 allows you to connect an optional dock UP-A1 for the iPhone / iPod or UP-HT1 HD Radio tuner (both sold separately). If you have peripherals that can be easily "chained" through an entry in the UP-HT1. A key advantage is that universal port accepts video and audio signals through the same cable that sends power receiver devices. Net result: more connectivity, less cable clutter
TX-SR608 is positioned as an “entry-level” receiver, you get cutting edge technologies and new features far beyond what you’d expect from a receiver at this price range.
